This intense five-day course is taught by instructors from Fort Benning's Ranger Training Brigade Combatives Program. The course introduces the student to the basics of an engagement between two or more combatants in an empty-hand struggle or with weapons such as sticks, knives or projectile weapons that cannot be fired.
Training Outline Includes:
Mental Calm--how to develope the ability to better control fear/anger.
Situational Awareness--how to be cognizant of things going on around the fighters which could have a direct impact on the outcome such as weapons or other personnel joining the fight.
Base--an introduction to the posture that allows the fighter to gain leverage from the ground.
Dominant Body Position--how to gain and maintain this vital position in a fight.
Distance--each technique has a window of effectiveness based on the amount of space between the two combatants. The fighter must control this distance to control the fight.
Physical Balance / Leverage--how to use the parts of the body to create a natural mechanical advantage while maintaining equilibrium and remain stable during the fight.
